Broadway Shows to Watch in 2025

The 2024-2025 Broadway Season is in full swing with several exciting projects featuring AMDA graduates opening on Broadway in early 2025. Take an exclusive peek at these productions, as our alumni share what they’re looking forward to about Broadway’s newest hits!

Buena Vista Social Club

Gerald Schoenfeld Theatre
Previews: February 21, 2025
Opening Night: March 19, 2025

Buena Vista Social Club, inspired by true events, brings the music of the GRAMMY Award-winning album of the same name to life like never before. From Broadway’s Gerald Schoenfeld Theatre, visit Havana in the 90s and experience a tale of big dreams and the unbreakable bonds of making music together.

AMDA graduate Ashley De La Rosa returns to Broadway to originate the role of “Young Haydee.”

“Something that excites me about Buena Vista Social Club is how music is truly central to the story. The musicians are the heartbeat of the show. We have no orchestra pit, everyone is onstage and playing live. I think audiences will be able to feel that difference in energy and electricity even from their seats, though I will say…it’ll be hard to remain sitting down once you hear that music!” - Ashley De La Rosa

BOOP! The Musical

Broadhurst Theatre
Previews: March 11, 2025
Opening Night: April 5, 2025

Betty Boop, queen of the cultural zeitgeist, hops out of our TV screens and into the Technicolor world of NYC! In this family-friendly show, Betty wants to have an “ordinary day off” where things aren’t always black and white, which leads to a one-of-a-kind adventure in The Real World.

AMDA graduates Anastaćia McCleskey and Morgan McGhee performed in the production’s Chicago premiere. Anastaćia will perform as “Carol” and Morgan will perform as an Ensemble member and “Carol” understudy when the show lands on Broadway this season.

“I’m excited to be a part of BOOP and on Broadway this season. This show will bring folks a lot of JOY! Reminding people that love and care start with you, extending that out to care for and love on each other.” - Anastacia McCleskey

“I’m very honored to return to Broadway as a part of an original cast, and thankful to Jerry Mitchell and the rest of the creatives for keeping me on the project since we started in 2022. Three years later, this show has consistently been what the world needs. A little fun and a whole lot of love.”  - Morgan McGhee

Like diamonds, SMASH is forever. Based off of the beloved TV musical comedy series about the making of a Marilyn Monroe musical titled Bombshell, SMASH gets the Broadway treatment. This production will feature established earworms, as well as never-before-heard songs from the TV show by songwriting duo Marc Shaiman and Scott Wittman.

AMDA graduate Jake Trammel is an Ensemble member returning to SMASH, following his performance in the production’s workshop. Jake recently made his Broadway debut in The Great Gatsby.

On his first day of rehearsal for SMASH, Jake shared rehearsal advice in a video for the @SMASHbway Instagram: “Be open to everything because there’s so many new minds, new people to meet.” - Jake Trammel
