AMDA Faculty since: 2023

Stephen Pitters, countertenor, has been hailed as "an exceptional young countertenor" with "textural and modulated vocalisms" by the South Florida Classical Review. On the operatic stage, Stephen has performed across the United States and Europe, having appeared in titular roles such as Orfeo in Orfeo ed Euridice, Refugee in Flight, Oberon in A Midsummer Night's Dream, and The Priest in In a Grove, among many others. Additional career highlights include collaborations with LA Opera, Pittsburgh Opera, Metropolis Ensemble, The Juilliard School, and the Mannes School of Music, as well as debuts with the New World Symphony in Miami Beach, Salzburger Festspiele in Salzburg, Austria, and the Palau de les Artes in Valencia, Spain. Stephen is a member of GRAMMY-nominated vocal ensemble Tonality; additionally, he was featured on the historic 20th season of American Idol for his extensive vocal range and dynamic abilities.

As a rare countertenor, Stephen is uniquely positioned to teach any voice type with a deep level of acoustic, physiological, and cognitive understanding.
